Presentation Pawan at the 18th International Conference on Cultural Economics (Montreal)

On June 22, Pawan traveled to Montreal to present a research paper at the 18th International Conference on Cultural Economics. In his paper he discusses how the innovativeness of productions of dance and theatre companies and their organizational legitimacy influences intermediaries at theater venues in their selection decisions. Pawan’s paper shows that when a dance or theater company has high legitimacy intermediaries favor conventional productions and when a company has low legitimacy intermediaries favor innovative productions. This result suggests that, however, innovation is a valued product characteristic in the cultural and creative industries as a whole, uncertainty, which goes hand in hand with innovations, has to be offset by other factors.
